Motherly Love

Motherly Love

I found this as I was going through my old photos from my trip to Africa.  An African elephant mother was nursing her baby as her herd was grazing in Samburu National Reserve.

Amboseli National Park

Visiting Amboseli National Park.  Most memorable was all the elephants and the efforts being made to protect them.

Sign of the Change in Weather

An American Toad took cover on the side of the trail on one of my early spring hikes.  As these small animals become more abundant it is a sure sign that the warm weather is here to stay.

Guarding Her Nest

eagle3wordI took one of my spring trips down to Shiloh National Military Park a couple of weeks ago to see the new eagle chicks.  There are two eaglets this year.  I did not see them, but their mother sat on this limb for a long time protecting her nest and her young.  Witnessing amazing animals like bald eagles in the wild make spending time in nature worth every minute.

Waves of Geese

Taking Off

This goes with my last photograph and video.  This was taken at Squaw Creek National Wildlife Refuge as thousands of geese took off at the same time.  This picture was taken early as the huge wave began to lift from the water.

Waves of Canadian Geese

Here is a video I shot last weekend of a huge wave of Canadian Geese taking off from one of the marshes at Squaw Creek National Wildlife Refuge in Missouri.  I had my camcorder set up while I was snapping pictures when all of the sudden all of the geese took off in a wave.  This is one of the most fascinating experiences I have ever had doing wildlife photography.
